Addressing a press conference, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal, launched a stinging attack on the ruling BJP for its inability to prevent the CBSE paper leak.
This comes two days after reports emerged that class 10 mathematics and class 12 economics papers were leaked, which led to an unprecedented crisis in the education sector.
Kapil Sibal also stated that the two fundamental pillars for safeguarding democracy, media and judiciary, have been completely subverted by the ruling dispensation. He further went to say that Media does not dare to hold truth to power anymore. They have become complicit in their reporting.
It is also learnt that today’s attack by the Congress has been prompted by two days of unending protests undertaken by students.
The Central Board of Secondary Examination had announced yesterday that re-examination for class 10 mathemetics and class 12 economics paper will be announced soon.
In its complaint to Delhi police, the board said that it had received an unaddressed envelope on March 26 containing four sheets of handwritten answers of the Class 12 Economics paper. On Monday, panic had gripped students of Class 12 following claims on social media that the economics paper had been leaked even though the CBSE denied there was any slip up.
Addressing the media yesterday, Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar said, the dates for the fresh exams will be announced by Monday or Tuesday. “I also could not sleep. I am also a parent,” the minister added.
